RCC in the Community

Supporting Key workers in 2020

Teaching children the importance of spreading kindness, and supporting as many local causes and people as possible, has always been rooted in our practices.

    • The children have created donation boxes for local charities at Christmas.

During day trips, we promote acts of kindness, such as:

    •  Participating in Novo Lounge’s “Pay It Forward” initiative.
    • Going on ‘kindness walks’ where the children hand flowers to local workmen and women, and leave hand-painted kindness stones around the town.

    • We have made donations to charities that we strongly believe in, and involve the children in discussions about this. These include Stand Up To Racism, The Red Cross, and the local Salvation Army Christmas appeal.
    • Staff leads by example by supporting local community events, including volunteering in the family zone at Harlow Pride at Passmores School in 2025, and promoting charitable acts, such as participating in the Brave the Shave for Macmillan in 2022, which was supported by donations from local families.
    • We support local fundraising events, such as The Parent Hood Hub’s ongoing efforts, volunteering at their summer BBQ where the children helped make decorations, and making donations after October half term using money raised through holiday club activities.
    • We take part in awareness weeks that fall within school holidays, and celebrate all diverse cultures and religions, including Diwali, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Easter, Christmas, Halloween, and more. Through these activities, we teach children that everyone has different beliefs and backgrounds, and that kindness and acceptance are what matter most.
    • We actively support local businesses by booking local face painters, mobile zoos, and sharing information about local businesses on our social media pages.

Being part of our local community is at the heart of what we do. We believe in promoting kindness, generosity, and active engagement with the world around us, and reflect this in the activities, discussions and days out we provide for the children under our care.
